Welcome to our tryout information page for Team Georgia Baseball Academy (TGBA). TGBA is proud to be the former travel baseball "home" of the #1 pick in the 2018 MLB draft, Casey Mize. Our academy is also only one of two programs nationally to win the prestigious WWBA Perfect Game National Championship at four different age groups (15-18U).
Team Georgia Baseball Academy will be conducting another round of open tryouts for our 2020-2021 academy teams for ages 8-18U. Team GA tryouts will be conducted by Chris McRaney, Randy Phares, David Smart, Matt Campbell, Conner Milford along with assistance from other TGBA coaches.
For rising 8U-14U age groups we realize the “formal tryout” process can sometimes be overwhelming. TGBA is embracing a philosophy of less teams in age groups to focus harder on teaching, training, and skills development. To assist parents and players, prior to our formal tryouts, TGBA offers players an opportunity to do advanced workouts at no charge. This is an opportunity for families to evaluate Team Georgia and also get familiar with our process prior to signing up for formal tryouts.
TGBA Evaluation Mailing List
In the event of inclement weather on a tryout date, please refer back to this page for additional information.
We have limited openings at each age group 9-17U. PLAYERS WHO NEED MAKEUP DATES FOR 9U-17U SHOULD REGISTER FOR MAILING LIST LINKED ABOVE SO THAT WE CAN COORDINATE.
We are condensing tryouts into multiple age groups to try and maximize time on the field along with a virtual option.
Our staff will be timing base running, measuring hitting exit velocity, and also measuring velocity for pitching mound and your primary position. These player metrics will be sent to you typically within 72 hours of the workout.
You will typically be notified within 48-72 hours of the workout if the player will be offered a spot with TGBA. You will be given an option to accept or decline that spot. If you do not get an email invite within 48-72 hours then you were not offered a team spot at this time.
In order to properly staff, tryout registration will close at midnight the day before the tryout. If you do not register by that time you will pay a late walk up registration fee that includes the normal tryout fee plus $20 (for all age groups).
If you want to try out virtually in lieu of in-person, that is an option. You will need to send video of the following: 1) Hitting 2) Pitching if applicable 3) Position video (Example IF, OF, Catching). Please get the video as close as possible for the hitting. We have included some examples below of what we are looking for to properly evaluate you. The cost will be the same for the virtual workouts.
