Originally from Mississippi, he began his baseball career at the junior college level before finishing at Mississippi State University where he attained a double degree in business and a Real Estate Brokers license. After completing an executive management training program, Coach McRaney moved to Atlanta in the late 90’s to pursue a career working in Corporate America. Coach McRaney then decided in the early 2000’s it was time for a change. He wanted to combine his passion for baseball with his love for working with young people and decided to enter the field of education and pursue coaching. In 2003 Coach McRaney started teaching kids with special needs and later attained a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Georgia State University in 2009. He taught special needs for ten years and coached at some of the best high school baseball programs in Georgia.
Team GA has built a reputation as one of the top travel baseball and softball organizations in the Southeast. Coach McRaney’s baseball teams have combined to post a 516-121 record that includes multiple Perfect Game WWBA National Championships along with other national championships and numerous state/regional titles. In addition, in it’s seven graduating classes, Team Georgia has had over 1100 players go on to play college baseball or to sign professionally.
Coach McRaney is excited about the upcoming season and is appreciative to all the players, parents, coaches – both past and present – who have helped make Team Georgia Baseball Academy what it is today.
